Nominations Open for the Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) 2026-27 Awards and Scholarship
Recipients to be celebrated at ALAS’ 23rd National Summit on Education October 14-17, 2026 in Denver, Colorado
WASHINGTON, D.C. (March 24, 2026) – The Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) is accepting nominations for its 2026-27 leadership awards and scholarship. For details and to nominate, visit https://alasedu.org/.
The ALAS leadership awards recognize four individuals and an ALAS state affiliate for extraordinary education leadership and advocacy around issues impacting the education of Latino and other historically marginalized students. Categories are:
● ALAS Superintendent of the Year
● ALAS Principal of the Year
● ALAS Central Office Administrator of the Year
● ALAS Advocacy Award
● ALAS State Affiliate of the Year
The ALAS scholarship awards $10,000 annually to an aspiring superintendent (and ALAS member) to help them continue their advanced degree program. Applicants are selected based on need and on their personal statements about how an advanced degree will help them achieve their goals and further the goals of the ALAS mission and vision. The application also requires a resume and three letters of recommendation.
“Celebrating our award winners and scholarship recipient is one of the highlights of our annual Summit,” said ALAS Executive Director Ulysses “Uly” Navarrete. “Our awards honor those who display excellence in leadership day in and day out and who are tireless advocates for the districts, schools, students, and communities they serve. If you have one of these leaders in your school or district, or if you are part of an ALAS state affiliate that is doing transformational work in your region, we encourage you to submit a nomination. Likewise, our scholarship serves to help those who are passionate about our mission and are seeking to expand their impact by ascending to a leadership role. Our scholarship will make that path to the superintendency a little easier for them by lessening their financial burden.”
The award and scholarship recipients will be recognized at a special ALAS awards gala on October 17, 2026 during the organization’s 23rd National Summit on Education, which runs from Oct. 15-17 in Denver, Colorado. For details about the Summit, visit https://alasedu.org/events/.
