Avantis Education’s ‘ClassVR Xcelerate’ Wins an EdTech Digest 2026 EdTech Award
The innovative new VR headset won in the “Cool Tools: virtual reality, augmented reality (VR/AR) solution” category
Chicago, (April 20, 2026) — ClassVR Xcelerate, the innovative new VR headset from Avantis Education, was named a winner in EdTech Digest’s 2026 EdTech Awards. The win marks the first U.S. award for ClassVR Xcelerate which launched in August, 2025. It was named a winner in the “Cool Tools: Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality (VR/AR) Solution” category.
“We are honored to receive an EdTech Digest Award for ClassVR Xcelerate,” said Avantis Education CEO Huw Williams. “In developing this VR headset, we were intentional about focusing both the design and content on meeting the needs of high school and higher education students. ClassVR Xcelerate opens up new possibilities for using VR in the higher grades, particularly within the career and technical education sector and we are thrilled to have it recognized as a ‘Cool Tool’ by EdTech Digest.”
The EdTech Digest EdTech Awards program recognizes outstanding contributions of people, companies and products that are transforming education through technology.
“We’re no longer asking if technology will transform learning — it already has,” said EdTech Digest’s Editor-in-Chief Victor Rivero in a statement. “The leaders honored here are defining what comes next. The future of learning isn’t something we’re waiting for — it’s unfolding right now, shaped by innovators who aren’t reacting to change, but creating it across classrooms, workplaces, and beyond.”
Avantis Education, a global leader in virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) technology for K-12 schools, created ClassVR Xcelerate specifically for high school and higher education. Designed for comfort, it features hand controllers and an innovative 90° flip visor for seamless transitions between immersive experiences and the classroom. Six-degrees-of-freedom head and controller tracking provides full spatial movement for highly-interactive ‘hands-on’ VR learning. Its four-camera spatial system enhances precision and boundary safety tracking, enabling educators to bring VR/AR experiences to classrooms while protecting students from colliding with real-world objects.
ClassVR Xcelerate includes Eduverse CTE, ClassVR’s first library of VR/AR resources for career and technical education (CTE), bringing engaging vocational simulations and scenario-based modules to the classroom.
