KidWind Receives Funding from Pattern Energy to Provide Renewable Energy Activities and Trainings

Partnership kicks off at New Mexico State Fair with hands-on activities for attendees to learn about wind and renewable energy

(Saint Paul, Minn.) September 10, 2021 – The KidWind Project, the international leader in clean energy education, has received a substantial donation from Pattern Energy, one of the world’s largest privately-owned developers and operators of wind, solar, transmission, and energy storage projects, to expand activities and training on wind and renewable energy for students and educators.

The project kicks off at the 2021 New Mexico State Fair where KidWind, in partnership with Pattern, will have a number of hands-on activities for the public to engage with wind and solar energy. Attendees who are interested can build mini windmills, solar powered fountains that spray water and solar powered boats. There will also be opportunities for attendees to engage with components of KidWind’s Power Grid Kit.

“Our team is very excited to be working with Pattern Energy at the New Mexico State Fair to provide hands-on activities during the 10-day event,” said Michael Arquin, founder of KidWind. “This is only the beginning of the activities and various trainings we will be offering to students and educators in New Mexico and other states.”

Following the State Fair, the initiative will bring in-person workshops, virtual training, classroom materials and KidWind Challenges to many parts of the state. Additional details on this program will be announced in October 2021.

Educators from New Mexico who are interested in receiving updates on programming opportunities this year can sign up here. For more information on Pattern Energy in New Mexico, visit patternenergynewmexico.com.
