 Charlotte, N.C. – August 10, 2015 –Research has scientifically confirmed that social and emotional learning (SEL) programs have a positive impact on student achievement, and the Devereux Student Strengths Assessment (DESSA) is widely recognized as the “gold standard” for measuring the social-emotional competencies of children in kindergarten through 8th grade. Now, Apperson is looking for high schools to participate in the National Standardization of the DESSA – High School Edition (DESSA – HSE).

Students at Lone Pine Unified School District work with live, online speech-language pathologists to achieve communication goals

SAN FRANCISCO, August 5, 2015 – Although districts are required to provide students in need with special education and related services such as speech therapy, many face obstacles in doing so. One such school district, Lone Pine Unified (LPUSD), an economically disadvantaged district near the California-Nevada border, found it hard to recruit and retain speech-language pathologists (SLPs) because of its location. To overcome this challenge, LPUSD chose to use online speech therapy through PresenceLearning and is seeing great success.

PresenceLearning Applauds Michigan’s New Policy to Allow Medicaid Reimbursement for Live, Online Speech Therapy Services

As of July 1, 2015, Michigan districts gained more equitable access to live, online speech therapy for underserved students

SAN FRANCISCO, July 27, 2015 –  Michigan schools are now eligible to receive Medicaid reimbursement for speech telepractice services—such as those provided by PresenceLearning—just as they do for on-site services. According to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services policy, live, online speech-language therapy, also known as telepractice, is simply “subject to the same provisions as therapy provided to a patient in person.”
